Ideas on how to use this site as a teaching tool:
For EDUCATORS we have a lesson plans, book list, an ecology association list and a section that will encourage school eco projects and spread the word about what other classrooms are doing worldwide. We hope this will encourage teachers to put their own classroom's project online and send us a link!
We have a section that lists many ways we can all help maintain a clean environment called Earth Matters, two sections with interesting earth facts called planet and planet Fast Facts, a food chain, planets size chart, Earth day pages, America recycles day page, Earthzine monthly magazine, and a weather quiz. There are several crafts here too! See the list below for more complete details.
- Have children get aquatinted with the Planetpals by reading their rhymes ...(also on audio)
- Talk about each PLANETPAL and their role in our universe, after reading their rhymes and perhaps write one of their own.
- Have them participate in our online creative contests and submit their best work
- Have them Read the creative contest winners work at Contest 1,Contest 2, Contest 3
- Have them learn about the Earth at Planet and Planet fast facts
- Have them learn about ecology at Earth Matters
- Have them see the difference in the Earth Size compared to other planets.
- Have them learn about the Solar System
- Have them use the PLANETPAL Food Chainas a learning tool like MR.Flemings Third Grade Science class has!
- Have children read about the Wonders of the World...great information and photos to start dialog!
- Very Useful and informative Planetpals Magazine, EARTHZINE is full of Interesting fact and fun. Learn about world celebrations and observances, earth and eco fast facts, and many exclusive monthly activities and articles.
- America Recycles Day is November15. Learn more about it and use our activities for this important day!.
- Earthday is April 22: Use our many ideas and activities to make projects for this important day on Planetpals GREATEST EARTHDAY PAGES!
- Use the Quick Lesson in Recycling! It's graphic and fun
- Have them visit the Recycle Center . It's a great visual tool to learn about recycling and what we can and can't recycle.
- In addition to recycling, have them learn about PREcycling. Complete with a downloadable shopping list activity.
- Have them send their ideas to us for Planetpals Worldy Wise page.
- Have them learn ways to conserve at home
- Have them print out the Recycle Kits, and use it at home or in the schoolroom!
- Have them look at our Recycle Picture Map
- Go to a LOCAL Earthday festival where Planetpals takes part ...with Planetpals activities for free.
- Have them write or take photos on how your town or country recycles-send it to us-we will add it to our World of Recycling Pages!
- Have them participate in Planetpals WORLD RECYCLES PROJECT It's a great class project where the whole world can learn.
- Have them get involved in dialog about ecology.
- Have them think up their own recycle kit ideas and send them to us!
- Have them make lists about things they can do to help conserve.
- Have them read the special features like Weather and research more information on that subject.
- Have them check out other children and school eco projects at our Thinking Green page!
- Have the entire class work on a project, make a web site about their project and we will help you promote it on our Thinking green
- Have them write a project on any eco topic, and use our Ecology Dictionary .page.
- Have them play with the Planetpals Puzzles. They will learn a valuable message and some simple ecology terms.
- Have your students download the FREE Card Game, FREE Coloring Pages or FREE Crafts.
- Have them send their friends our FREE EMail Stickers (click 'n stick), the messages are fun and meaningful.
- Start an E-patrol at school! Planetpals Teachers Challenge ...Get students involved...save your community and school money...all while being green. Member kit included: Stickers, Member packet, room sign, badge, pledge.
- Have them design a poster, using their concept.
- Start a PLANET PEN PAL exchange with a classroom in another country, use our Planet Pen Pal forum to find one.
- Join your class or individual children in our PLANETPAL Kids Club at the Clubhouse and start a local club of their own!
- Have them make a food chain of their own.
- Have them participate in our many craft pages and/or come up with a Planetpal craft idea like Monica did with Beadie Babies.
