The Peace Lantern Symbolizes Peace: It was fisrt started to Honor the Remembrance of Hiroshima. August 6th and 9th are the 73rd anniversaries of the world's first atomic bombings. In Japan and around the world, people gather in early August to float lanterns in remembrance of the victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, all victims of war, and all who have gone before us. Now the world displays Peace Lanterns for many Peace celebrations.

Suggestions for making a PEACE lanterns:Make lanterns to hang outside or inside. Use it with or without light Make several to place on your steps outdoors or in your window. Have a neighborhood PEACE vigil! Makes a great gift for a friend or a great class project, too. *Parents should have complete supervision when children are around scissors or flames. -------- Shapes:Use peace symbols designs (as shown) or peace doves.
