My name is Greenbean
and I'm everywhere
I'm a living thing
I need special care
You find me on plants
and great big trees
on beautiful flowers
and funny looking weeds
So give me clean water
and I will grow
then I'll filter the air
and make oxygen flow

Buy NOTHING Day! Nov 28
Consumed with overconsumption
Customarily, the day after Thanksgiving is
the biggest shopping day of the year.
But three years ago, earth enthusiasts started asking you to stop and think on that day. Buy only what you need....and if you need nothing. BUY NOTHING!
Buy nothing day is now recognized worldwide. This year it is held on Nov.28 (depending what country you live in), which shows how conscious we are all becoming of overconsumption.

The real story of Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving originated in 1621 between the Pilgrims and Indians. A three day celebration of peace and sharing took place in Plymouth , MA. But this did not actually mark the first Thanksgiving, it was only the model to which we celebrate the present holiday!
It was not until 1676 that Thanksgiving was proclaimed an official holiday . Even then, Thanksgiving was not held in the Autumn as you may think, it was held in June! Of course now we hold Thanksgiving in November. To read the real proclamation go here.

IKC Recipes to share Peace and Love Give You Real food for thought this Thanksgiving!
International Kids Club's proactive and heartwarming ingredients to make thanksgiving with family, friends and neighbors more meaningful this year:
- Invite a friend or neighbor to share a holiday meal. Teach them how your family celebrates Thanksgiving and help them learn your traditions. In turn, learn about theirs!
- Share what you have with others. Give to the less fortunate. Drop off some extra food at a food bank. There are often drop off boxes in the grocery store.
- Bring a lonely or elder neighbor a food basket. Make it with homemade or store bought food.
- Send a friend or neighbor a card or make a special holiday gift. Many people are alone this year, unable to travel.
- Have nowhere to go this thanksgiving? Volunteer at a food pantry. Help feed some homeless families in need of kindness.
While you are at it, check out our peace pages for more peace loving ideas!

This Berry Fun Stringing Gameis for the BIRDS
and for Thanksgiving, too!
You need: Cranberries, String, and Needles.
.
Each player must have a needle threaded with an 18-inch thread or string with a knot on the end. Have everyone sit around a bowl of berries. On the signal, everyone should start stringing the cranberries onto their threads. The first to fill their thread is the winner. You can also play this game alternating popcorn and cranberries. After, hang the completed cranberry strings outside as a Thanksgiving treat for the birds!

Your school or class can earn points and cash...just recycle ink cartridges...
Start a group program at school or work. You will be earning free merchandise in no time! It's a good way to recycle. Be part of this easy and rewarding program.
Every Litter Bit Counts and adds up, too!
Did you know that by recycling ink jet cartridges you are responsible for making a pretty big impact on the environment. It may seem small-but every litter bit counts
- Three and a half quarts of oil are used for every laser cartridge produced.
- Two quarts of oil are conserved for every laser cartridge returned through the Funding Factory Program.
- Two and a half ounces of oil are used for every inkjet cartridge produced.
- Every year over 275 million cartridges are thrown away. In terms of weight, that is equivalent to over 30,500 African Elephants!

- Stacked end to end, cartridges thrown away in one year would cover a distance of over 24,000 miles-enough to circle the earth.
- In the next seven years, if the all laser and inkjet cartridges are saved from landfills, a bridge can be built from the Earth to the Moon-223, 000 miles!
