Tools needed for a Recycle Butterfly net

  • A plastic mesh bag (the kind you buy onions or oranges in)
  • Pipe cleaners,
  • A cardboard tube (paper towel-or wrapping paper tube)
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Markers.

Directions:recycle!

  • Cut the little metal clamp off the end of your mesh bag. (leave 1 end clamped)
  • Make a rim for your net by twisting together the ends of 2 pipe cleaners.
  • Thread the pipe cleaners in and out along the top edge of the mesh bag.
  • Secure the ends of the rim with a piece of tape.
  • For a handle, use the cardboard tube and cut a slit on each side.
  • Insert the rim of the net into the slits and tape it in place.

Options / Ideas:

  • You can use a dowel or old broom handle instead of a paper tube
  • Decorate your handle with markers, crayons or stickers! Why not draw butterflies on it?
